Nordstrom employee Jonathan Ramirez Perez charged with $1,600 in return fraud

Security Personnel at Nordstrom at the Mall at Green Hills detained 22-year-old employee Jonathan Ramirez Perez in the security office until police arrived after management discovered he had stolen $1,600 from the store. Officers say security video confirms Perez Perez actually purchased items from the store in the past and, on two recent days, pretended to refund those transactions and refunded the money to his debit card without actually returning the merchandise. The total amount of the fraud was $1,600.

Employees charged with stealing tires from Dunlap & Kyle Tire— Bryan Hagenbuch & Zachary Orr

24-year-old Bryan Hagenbuch & 30-year-old Zachary Orr are both charged in a plot to steal from their employer, Dunlap & Kyle Tire Company. Management became aware of the thefts of approximately 100 tires when they noticed the pair were loading tires into their personal vehicles to take them to resell, after removing them from the company’s inventory system. Management was able to obtain an audio recording of Orr confessing to stealing tires for “approximately two months”. While the investigation is ongoing, the current estimated loss is at least $5,000. A third person is mentioned in the investigation but had not been charged at the time of publication.

Converse employee charged with stealing customer’s debit card — Marem Youssef

Police say 19-year-old Marem Youssef pocketed the debit card of a customer after checking her out at the Converse store at Opry Mills. When the customer reported the suspected theft, officers reviewed the camera footage and observed Youssef take the card. She apologized and returned the card while the footage was being reviewed.

She is charged with theft and issued a citation, for which she self-booked this week.

After Glenn Funk lets him walk on first charge, Colin Beason charged with stealing from another employer

28-year-old Colin Beason has, once again, been caught doing return fraud at a retail store that employed him. In 2019, we covered his felony theft arrest for pocketing $1800 in cash from fraudulent returns from GameStop. District Attorney Glenn Funk agreed to give him a deferred judgment with no conviction for that charge, and he moved on without a guilty plea on his record. Beason now works for Locker Room by Lids at Opry Mills Mall. Earlier this week, the store notified Metro Police they had determined Beason had stolen $4,718.30 in cash from fraudulent returns. Beason signed a confession in the case, and because of the prior deal with DA Funk, has no prior conviction. Beason, who studied finance at MTSU, was booked into the Metro Nashville Jail, charged with felony theft, and is free on a $2,500 bond.

Employees steals $7,505 from Antioch Home Depot in 2 days — Yvette Muhawe

21-year-old Yvette Muhawe signed a confession, admitting to leaving the cash drawer open after completing a transaction at the Antioch Home Depot where she worked, and after the customer walks away, taking money from the register. On November 29th she took $3,868, and on November 30 the amount was $3,637. She is charged with two felony counts of theft and is free on pre-trial release.

East Nashville Kroger employee confesses to stealing nearly $15,000 — Tavaris James

26-year-old Tavaris James was booked into the Metro Nashville Jail Wednesday night, charged with stealing $14,733.45 from his employer, the East Nashville Kroger. In a videotaped confession, James admitted on most days he worked he would sign into the self-checkout system and issue a voucher for around $500 and then either cash it out or load it onto his own debit card or a chime card. He would then spend the money on himself and his family, which he often documented in his shopping bags on social media. He is charged with felony theft and free on a $15,000 bond.

Former Plato’s Closet manager charged with thefts from store, fake transactions — Malyiea Hogan

22-year-old Malyiea Hogan was booked into custody this week on an outstanding warrant from 2019, charging her with theft while she was an Assistant Manager at Plato’s Closet. Court records allege she applied discounts to her own sale, reducing the transaction from $99 to $2, took $145 in cash while pretending to purchase items from a non-existent customer, and was seen leaving the store with “bags of merchandise”. She was charged with theft and is free on pre-trial release.
