Police wrestle man walking on side of interstate for “several minutes” before arrest — Demarus Phillips

Less than 72 hours after multiple officers shot and killed a man who had been walking alongside an interstate last week, Metro Nashville Police responded to mile marker 89.6 of I-65 N after a citizen report a man, later identified as 32-year-old Demarus Phillips, walking alongside the roadway. Due to safety concerns, they ordered the man further to the side of the road, away from the lanes of travel, and he became upset, stating “I’m just going home”. Police demanded he turn and place his hands behind his back, which he refused. A fight then began with officers which lasted for “several minutes” until he was eventually wrestled to the ground and taken into custody.

Woman charged with downtown DUI says she had a “single drink at work before leaving — Catherine Friend

25-year-old Catherine Friend is charged with DUI after driving on KVB at 1st Ave. South in downtown Nashville with a damaged front tire. Police made contact with her and noticed immediate signs of intoxication. She admitted to having ‘a single drink’ before leaving her job, and was transported to booking after a stop at Metro General for a blood draw, to which she consented. She is free on pre-trial release.

Woman charged with assaulting roommate. When he calls cops, she hits him again — Demi Elliott

22-year-old Demi Elliott is charged with domestic assault after she reportedly punched her roommate, Garrett Holland, several times, leaving visible injuries and causing him to push her out of his room and to call 911. When he went to inform her that he had called police, she then assaulted him a second time. The second assault was captured on video. She is free on a $1,000 bond.
