VIDEO: Cane Ridge Asst Principal on paid leave after tackling student during fight

Cane Ridge High School Assistant Principal James Reese is on paid administrative leave after he violently took a student to the floor and restrained her during a fight in the gym on January 31. After Scoop: Nashville obtained a video of the incident, Metro Nashville Schools released a statement that reads, “a fight occurred in the gym at approximately 9:05 a.m. on Tuesday, January 31. Assistant Principal James Reese came into the gym and stopped the fight with the help of a substitute teacher. He was attempting to escort one of the girls out of the gym when the other one involved in the fight moved passed a substitute teacher and pushed them, knocking them to the floor. The AP got up and took that girl to the floor and restrained her to stop the fight from re-occurring.”

Tywansha Perkins charged in assault of Metro School bus driver

Video from a MNPS bus shows 36-year-old Tywansha Yvette Perkins waited for her child’s bus to drop him off and then entered the bus before any children could exit. She got in the face of the bus driver, put a finger in the driver’s face, and yelled, “Imma f*-k you up!” and continued to yell and curse and escalate the situation while the driver remained calm but afraid. The children exited around Perkins, and she then left the bus, too. Perkins was reportedly up prior video footage from the school bus proved that her son was not telling the truth when he told her the school bus driver assaulted him by shoving him and slapping candy from his hand. A judge released her on her own recognizance.

Jamie Morgan booked on charge of stealing school board campaign signs in Nashville

45-year-old Jamie Morgan self-booked this week on a citation charging her with the theft of campaign signs of MNPS School Board candidate Todd Pembroke. Police say that after repeated thefts, a tracker was placed inside some of the signs by the campaign, and they were tracked to her address on Anchorage Drive. Police accompanied the candidate to the pinged location and issued her a citation, and retrieved dozens of signs. During that visit, Morgan lifted her shirt and flashed the candidate, made obscene gestures, and caused quite the scene, which was captured on video (below, in story). Morgan stated she did this for “political reasons.” On her social media, Morgan describes herself as a “Nashville based bipolar pagan intuitive; rape, sexual abuse, trauma survivor; retired drunk trying to be a better mom.”

Woman charged after running over classmates with her car after a fight — Micahiah Barefield

20-year-old Micahiah ‘MK’ Barefield has moved off of MNPD’s Most Wanted Hot Sheet and into a jail cell. Barefield was taken into custody Thursday on two outstanding felony warrants from January. The warrants allege that Barefield used her grey Ford Fusion to drive around a crowd and run over two of her McGavock High School classmates, Tamia Womack and Kemya Holmes, leaving both with broken bones and multiple injuries.

Court records show that Womack and Holmes had arrived at the Ross parking lot on Lebanon Pike to settle a dispute with another female they knew as ‘Pooh’ and as they were leaving that fight they were struck by Barefield. Barefield is jailed in lieu of an $80,000 bond, charged with two counts of felony aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

18-year-old charged with groping 14-year-old victim on school bus — John Demonte Crutcher

18-year-old John Demonte Crutcher was booked into the Metro Nashville Jail Friday, charged with the sexual battery of a 14-year-old female victim on a school bus in November. Crutcher admitted to “groping” the young girl’s breast and said he shouldn’t have touched her. The victim says he placed his hand on her thigh while sitting next to her on the school bus, stared at his hand, and stated “to grab or not to grab” before grabbing her. She pushed him away, and the incident was confirmed by a witness. Crutcher is free on a $1,000 bond.

Teen found with Hammerli rifle at Tom Joy Elementary after school hours — Devin Adams #PreTrialRelease

18-year-old Devin Adams is charged with felony possession of a weapon on school grounds after police found him parked in the rear parking lot of Tom Joy Elementary School just before midnight Monday. He told officers he always carried the .22 Hammerli rifle, which was fully loaded with a round in the chamber, with him everywhere for ‘protection’. He is free on pre-trial release.

Hunters Lane: School Resource Officer says 4 students robbed a teen in the school restroom

18-year-old Tyrone Anthony Johnson Jr posted a $5,000 cash bond just 3 hours after his arrest at Hunters Lane High School in Goodlettsville for robbery earlier this month. Johnson is identified as one of four males that came into the restroom and demanded money from a male high school senior using the restroom. Parent charged after threatening to “shoot up” Wright Middle School in Nashville — Osama Awali

51-year-old Osama Awali is jailed in lieu of a $75,000 bond after threatening to “shoot up” Wright Middle School in Nashville. Upset that the school denied his request to transfer his daughter from the school, he called the MNPS customer service line on Monday and stated that he would show up Tuesday and “punch the principal”, Sharada Deaton, and continued that he “may as well shoot up the place”. He was taken into custody Tuesday as he arrived in the student drop-off lane. Awali is charged with Communicating a threat against a school employee, a misdemeanor.

Hillsboro High: Teen charged after trapping girlfriend in hallway, attempting sex act against her will

Police say school security video shows 18-year-old William Austin Richmond holding his girlfriend against her will, trapping her inside a vacant hallway of Hillsboro High School while attempting to get her to perform a sex act on him after she declined.
