23-year-old Ariel Thomas was stopped for speeding and during the interaction with an officer, she admitted to “drinking a swig” from an open bottle of Paul Masson Whiskey, which she was carrying in a pouch on her shirt, and taking a Percocet. A second empty bottle of whiskey was also in the vehicle, along with other various open containers of alcohol. Also found in the vehicle was a small amount of marijuana and a loaded Taurus pistol. What wasn’t found was a valid license to drive, as she currently didn’t have one issued to her.

Colorado Tourist Joshua Shannon unable to pay tab at Honky Tonk Central in downtown Nashville
40-year-old Joshua Shannon, of Grand Junction, CO, is free on pre-trial release after Metro Nashville Police say he ran up a bar tab of $289.34 at Honky Tonk Central on Broadway in downtown Nashville and was unable to pay it. Officers responded to the venue just before 6 p.m. Thursday, where he attempted to pay using all four credit cards, each of which was declined. During his arrest for theft of services, officers recovered and charged him with a small amount of marijuana in his pants pocket.
‘Son of the South’ Joshua Carney charged with DUI in Nashville after using weed & alcohol before driving
30-year-old ‘Son of the South’ Joshua Carney, a paraplegic man turned motivational speaker who appeared on shows such as Swamp People & Southern Boyz, was arrested in Nashville over the weekend after admittedly drinking and using marijuana prior to driving and getting into an accident while attempting to park between a tour bus and a dumpster in downtown Nashville.

35-year-old Nashville Rapper & Franklin Realtor Houston Parks told Metro Nashville Police he smoked marijuana “minutes before driving,” according to an arrest warrant obtained by Scoop: Nashville overnight. He also confirmed the powder in his pocket was cocaine. Parks maintains an active real estate license with the state despite a 2006 DUI and drug possession charges, a 2007 charge for selling ‘woo’ (fake cocaine) and fleeing from police, a 2009 MNPD Undercover Information operation that caught him with a felony amount of cocaine, and yet another DUI charge in 2010. Joseph Crutchfield charged with drag racing & marijuana in Nashville’s street racing initiative crackdown
Metro Nashville Police Officers working the “Street Racing Initiative” say they observed 24-year-old Joseph Crutchfield III racing another vehicle and passing cars on Murfreesboro Pike near Morton Lane. He was traveling at high rates of speed. Police caught up with him on the 3700 block of Nolensville Pike and conducted a traffic stop to take him into custody. During an inventory search of his vehicle, a small amount of marijuana and paraphernalia was located, for which he was also charged.
Jayla Shepard free on pre-trial release after being found with Glock & marijuana during traffic stop
18-year-old Jayla Shepard faced multiple charges after police say she was the front-seat passenger in a vehicle driven by her 17-year-old boyfriend that was stopped at the I-24/I-40 interchange. Officers immediately noticed a “large amount” of marijuana in the center console area along with some joints. A search of the car revealed a backpack behind Shepard’s seat containing another just over a half-pound of marijuana, baggies, scales, and a Glock 17 with no serial number. The juvenile boyfriend denied possession of any of the items, and Shepard claimed the marijuana was hers “but we both smoke it”, and states the juvenile bought the gun for her, but she was afraid of it. She is free on pre-trial release, charged with two felonies and three misdemeanors.
Four charged with felony marijuana possession & distribution — half-pound found during traffic stop
Just after 6 p.m. on Friday, police attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a black Volkswagen, however, the car fled the area. Officers were able to get the tag number and again located the vehicle almost 28 hours later near 1st Ave S. & Korean Veterans Blvd. As officers approached the vehicle, they could see just over a half-pound of marijuana in the back seat in separate baggies. All four individuals in the vehicle were charged with felony possession with intent to distribute: Demarrrio Bowen, 19, Lamont D. Begley, 19, Brandon D. Jnobaptiste, 23, and Donnell Booker, 18.
Police take gun from teenager near airport hotel — Mohamed Kulolu Mohamed
Poice noticed 18-year-old Mohamed Kulolu Mohamed “aimlessly wandering” the area of 2300 Elm Hill Pike, The Residence Inn, on Sunday and approached him. He stated he was just waiting on a friend. Police observed an obvious imprint of a handgun in his hoodie and asked him what was in the pocket, to which Mohamed replied “what do you think?”, causing officers to immediately grab and retrieve the gun from the teen. A records check revealed the gun was reported as stolen, and marijuana was found on Mohamed during a search.
Canadian Football Player Ryan Bomben faces felony for bringing drugs into Nashville jail after drunken arrest
Metro Nashville Police found 34-year-old Canadian Professional Football Player Ryan Bomben banging his head against a local business in downtown Nashville, and when officers approached him he reeked of alcohol and had difficulty standing on his own. Despite multiple attempts to arrange for him to leave the area safely, there was no one to care for him and he had no idea where he was staying. He was transported to booking, where they located marijuana inside his jacket pocket once inside the facility. Bomben was charged with public intoxication and felony introducing drugs into a penal institution.
Kyle Bramer booked on citation for rolling a blunt in 2019
25-year-old Kyle Bramer was booked into the Metro Nashville Jail this week on an outstanding citation from 2019, charging him with simple drug possession. Police Officer (now Sergeant) Tyler Conrads issued the citation, stating he witnessed Bramer “preparing a marijuana blunt in the passenger seat of a vehicle”.
Dontae McFarlane pulls knife on roommate when his weed goes missing #arrested
Nashville Police say 19-year-old Dontae McFarlane came home in the early hours of Friday morning and found that his marijuana was missing from his room. He reportedly became upset with his roommate, Remarr Parnell, and grabbed a knife. While pointing it at him, he asked “so what are we going to do now?”. Parnell says this made him fear for his life and told them “I’m not going to lose my life because of him”. Another roommate confirmed the events when police arrived.

24-year-old Christopher Stowers told police he smoked marijuana 30 minutes prior to driving, and “blacked out” moments before he crashed into two other vehicles in Antioch this weekend, leaving those drivers with minor injuries. Inside the rental vehicle he was driving, police located two marijuana grinders and a pipe.

24-year-old Kevin Tuttle is jailed on a $385,000 bond and a probation hold after Metro Nashville Police coordinated with Smyrna PD to take him into custody. After fleeing from Smyrna Police’s traffic stop, he took MNPD on a chase through the city in his Nissan Maxima from a Nolensville Rd Kroger through Antioch where he tossed out a safe with a large sum of money, all the way to Richard Jones Rd and Villa Place, all while being tracked by AirONE. Police would eventually recover 8 pounds of marijuana, 1.4 Kilos of Xanax, 324 LSD stamps, 62 grams of liquid THC, 243 grams of THC wax in 9 jars, and 88 grams of crystal meth. His mugshot was not immediately available before publication.
Man charged with giving child cocaine, raping her, hiding her from police — Da’Sean Hancock (D William Hancock)
26-year-old Da’Sean William Hancock (D. William Hancock) is now jailed on felony aggravated kidnapping, aggravated statutory rape, and child endangerment charges. Police say they located him at his Nob Hill apartment with a 13-year-old child, who he hid in a closet when she tried to escape, realizing police had arrived. Police say he gave the child marijuana and cocaine until she felt “high and numb” and raped her twice. A friend of the child assisted the police in the rescue of the child. Hancock remains jailed on an $85,000 bond.
Bellevue man rips dress off girlfriend, threatens to kill her, on his birthday — Byron Baisy
Byron Baisy was booked into the Metro Nashville Jail on Tuesday, his 35th birthday, after he and his girlfriend, Tiffany Mayfield, had reportedly argued all morning long. His girlfriend says the argument escalated when it wasn’t going his way, and he pushed her onto the bed, held her down, ripped off her dress, and treated to kill her. Police documented injuries on the victim when they responded to the Bellevue residence and took Daisy into custody.
After Baisy was in custody, officers asked if he had anything on him they should be aware of, and he disclosed there was “weed” in his pocket. Officers retrieved 27.3 grams of marijuana. Byron Baisy is charged with domestic assault with bodily injury and drug possession. He is free on a $1,000 bond.
DUI: Man found asleep behind wheel of vehicle parked at intersection — Jordan Woods arrested
22-year-old Jordan Woods was booked into the Metro Nasvhille Jail just before daylight Sunday, after officers found him asleep behind the wheel of a vehicle that was parked in the middle of an intersection with his engine and lights off, with the keys out of the ignition. As officers observed cars maneuver around him they knocked on the window and eventually woke him from his slumber. He claimed to be “waiting on a text message” to tell him where to go. It was unclear how long he had been asleep at the intersection. Woods performed poorly on field sobriety tests and was charged with DUI and for a bag of marijuana found inside his jacket pocket. He is free on pre-trial release and listed a TSU campus dorm as his bond-out address.

28-year-old Jimelle James, of Atlanta, was found at the Nashville International Airport late Tuesday with 98 psilocybin mushroom chocolate bars, commercially packaged as containing 5 grams each of premium shrooms – all weighing 12.2 pounds in total, 3 bags of commercially packaged marijuana weighing 7.89 oz, and 100 bags labeled ‘Kush Factory’. He’s facing multiple drugs charges for which a night court commissioner set his bond at $42,000, and he posted 5 hours after being booked.
“My internal voice told me not to smoke today” says woman charged with marijuana DUI — Karina Garcia Betancourt
When stopped by police, 21-year-old Karin Garcia Betancourt told officers her internal voice told her not to smoke marijuana today, but she says she did it anyway because it helps with her anxiety and to be more outgoing in her job as a waitress at a local Mexican restaurant. She was initially pulled over Thursday afternoon for going 79 in a 55 mph zone, but officers quickly determined she was under the influence of marijuana while driving. She gave officers the remaining roaches and blunts she had in the vehicle and was charged with DUI, drug possession, and driving without a license. The MNPD Officer noted she was “cooperative and friendly during the interaction” and she thoroughly explained how she was in the “process of cutting back from daily marijuana usage to weekly usage, with the eventual goal of no marijuana usage”. DUI: Popular cake maker found unconscious & slumped over behind wheel of car in traffic — Laquita Cole
Metro Nashville Police found 37-year-old Laquita Cole unconscious and slumped over the wheel of her running vehicle just before midnight Monday near the intersection of Elm Hill Pike and Donelson Pike. Responding officers could not awaken her, however, Nashville Fire eventually got her to a semi-alert state with a sternum rub. Police say she didn’t know where she was geographically, but stated she wasn’t tired and had no medical issues. Indicators of both alcohol and marijuana use were present in the vehicle, however, officers seemed to suspect another substance was also on board.
She continued to nod off during the arrest process, and had to be roused back to an alert state. She was transported to General Hospital for a blood draw, then to booking, where she was charged with DUI and freed on pre-trial release. Cole is well-known in the city for her designer cakes and food plates, with over 12,000 followers just on Instagram, where she posts the daily dishes for ordering. Hours prior to her arrest, she had posted “My life is like a movie, I make my own stunts”.
“Yes that’s my pot, I’ve been smoking for 50 years” — Ricky Cook arrested in downtown Nashville
Metro Nashville Police found 61-year-old Ricky Lee Cook at the Johnny Cash Museum restaurant, where staff had asked him to leave after they deemed him to be a bother to staff and patrons, and he refused to do so. Police noticed he was heavily intoxicated, and took him into custody. During a search incidental to his arrest, officers located a leather satchel with a green Tupperware container inside, which contained his personal use marijuana. When asked, he confirmed it was marijuana, and stated: “I’ve been smoking pot for 50 years”. Police charged him with drug possession and public intoxication and transported him to jail. He is free on pre-trial release.
TSU Police charge two teens with felonies for 75 grams of marijuana on campus — General Jai Lynch & Jordan Bowers
TSU Campus Police Officer responded to the back of Wilson Hall on the TSU Campus Saturday afternoon, where he says she smelled “an odor of marijuana” coming from a vehicle, which was occupied by 19-year-old General Jaire Lynch and 18-year-old Jordan Bowers. Both teens admitted to being in possession of a bag of weed and displayed them to the officers. Officers conducted a search of the vehicle and recovered one smoked blunt, one non-smoked blunt, and each teen’s bag, which all totaled 75 grams of marijuana. The teens were each charged with felony possession with intent to distribute and are free on pre-trial release.

After medics and others eventually got her awake and alert she told first responders she drank one beer and smoked marijuana. She blew a 0.211 BAC, nearly three times the legal limit. She remains jailed in lieu of a $1.500 bond.

29-year-old Zachary Pollack told police he was “high on shrooms” when they caught him with a purple Lego bunny rabbit at the ‘Nature Pop’ exhibit at Cheekwood Estate & Gardens Monday night. Security believed he was trying to steal the artwork, however, Zach says he just “thought it would be funny if it moved”.
