44-year-old Aaliyah Cooke crashed her vehicle on I-65 on January 7 but stated she was not injured when officers arrived at the scene. As she spoke with first responders, they reported smelling alcohol coming from her breath. She admitted she had just come from a bar and was on her way home when she crashed. She performed poorly on field sobriety tests and had a handgun on her at the time of her arrest.

DUI: Gary Henson was “hostile and belligerent” during arrest with handgun and drugs
19-year-old Gary Henson was involved in a single-vehicle rollover on the interstate late Friday night. First responders report smelling alcohol on Henson as they interacted with him and noted his slurred speech and bloodshot eyes. Henson was “belligerent and extremely uncooperative” with police. He admitted to smoking marijuana and drinking “one beer” just before the accident. Inside the vehicle, officers found a half-consumed bottle of Crown Royal and a baggie of marijuana. Field sobriety tests could not be completed due to his hostility. Henson was transported to booking and charged with the marijuana, possession of a firearm that was found in the vehicle, and driving under the influence.
Tourist James Peet found passed out in downtown alley, drunk and armed with a handgun
56-year-old James Chester Peet of New York was found passed out in downtown Nashville in an alley near 4th & Broadway in the early hours of Sunday morning. Once he was awoken, officers detected a strong smell of alcohol coming from Peet, and he was obviously too intoxicated to care for himself. As an ambulance was called to assist him, Peet disclosed he had a handgun on his hip. After he declined further medical treatment, he was transported to booking and charged with public intoxication and possession of a handgun while intoxicated.
Tourist Richard Long kicked out of Gaylord Opryland Hotel after armed drunken disturbance
46-year-old tourist Richard Long, from Tempe, AZ, was asked to leave his hotel, the Gaylord Opryland Resort, after threatening staff and causing a disturbance. Metro Nashville Police arrived and observed that Long was extremely intoxicated, and security reported they had told the guest he would have to leave the property due to him making direct threats to staff, which Long said he wouldn’t do since he was a paying guest. Officers explained the trespassing law to him, yet he continued to cause a disturbance at the resort hotel. He was eventually taken into custody and charged with criminal trespass, public intoxication, disorderly conduct, and possession of a handgun while under the influence, as a Glock was located on his right hip and located during a search incident to arrest.
McDUI: Troy White passed out behind the wheel in drive-thru with two loaded handguns
Police found 56-year-old Troy White asleep in his vehicle at McDonald’s drive-thru at 1:30 a.m. Sunday. He initially seemed unconscious but slowly acknowledged people were around, but could not follow simple commands. Police say he reeked of alcohol, and he stated he had been drinking at a nearby bar where he had “four bottles of beer.” He performed poorly on field sobriety tests, and during a search of his vehicle incident to arrest, two loaded handguns were found around his seat, once under it, and the other next to the center console.
68-year-old Robert Mackenzie found armed and intoxicated outside Honky Tonk Central in Nashville
68-year-old Robert Mackenzie was found outside of Honky Tonk Central by officers working the Entertainment District Initiative on Saturday. Mackenzie was barely able to stand and obviously intoxicated. As he was being taken into custody for public intoxication a loaded .22 caliber handgun was found in his pocket. He was charged with public intoxication and possession of a handgun while under the influence.
Tourist Ryan Creamer charged with carrying a handgun on broadway while intoxicated
26-year-old Ryan Creamer, of Pennsylvania, was kicked out of Second Fiddle at 420 Broadway has police encountered him on the sidewalk. He was heavily intoxicated and had been causing a disturbance inside the venue. As police attempted to assist him, they noticed he was carrying a handgun in his waistband while intoxicated. He was taken into custody and transported to booking.
Georgia man charged with carrying handgun while drunk at Tootsie’s in downtown Nashville— Jeremy Evans
28-year-old Georgia tourist Jeremy Thomas Evans was being drunk and disorderly at Tootsie’s Bar in downtown Nashville when he came to the attention of the venue security staff. As they interacted with him they realized he was carrying a handgun, and they took his weapon from him and called police. Officers arrived and transported Evans to booking, charging him with possession of a handgun while under the influence.
Shanniece Kodjo charged with possessing a handgun while intoxicated at a gas station
Police responded to a gas station on Old Harding Pike on March 29th and met with 32-year-old Shanniece Kodjo, who called them to the locations. The reason for her call wasn’t immediately apparent in court records, however, police say when they arrived she admitted she had consumed at least two alcoholic drinks and had a slight odor of alcohol about her. She also stated she owned a handgun, and it was with her in the vehicle. She gave consent for officers to retrieve it, at which point she was arrested and charged with possession of a handgun while under the influence.
Bryan Bosworth-Smith passes out in drive-thru for 25 minutes with handgun after smoking questionable marijuana
Police found 20-year-old Bryan Bosworth-Smith passed out in the driver’s seat of his vehicle at a McDonald’s drive-thru with a pistol in his right hand and his car in drive on Saturday. Officers attempted to immobilize the vehicle using their patrol cars and used a loudspeaker, lights, sirens, for over 25 minutes while knocking on his window until he finally woke up in a state of shock and panic – taking his foot off the brake and continuing to hold his weapon. Once they broke out the glass of his rear window he dropped the weapon and complied. He stated he had smoked marijuana which he had bought via a phone app prior to driving.
Drunk man with gun threatens to kill store clerk, police let him walk away, he then assaults roommate — Shabazz Mallison
26-year-old Shabazz Mallison is jailed in lieu of a $72,000 bond after police had two interactions with him Wednesday. Officers first encountered him at a South Nashville 7-Eleven when he threatened to fight and kill the clerk. He was released from the scene after the clerk chose to not press charges.
One hour later, police were called to his home where they encountered him armed with a handgun on the front porch, yelling for cops to “shoot me! shoot me!” while waving the gun around. He had threatened a roommate, Shameka Watson, and another woman with a gun while pointing the laser sight at them. During the argument he reportedly also threw a Yankee candle at her, leaving wax on her face, and she used a chicken pan on him in self-defense.
Mallison is charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, reckless endangerment/assault, and possession of a handgun under the influence.
Man found drunk & laying in doorway of bar, gun in his waistband — Jacob Baker arrested
21-year-old Jacob Baker is charged with possession of a weapon while under the influence. Police were responding to a separate incident at Luke Bryan’s 32 Bridge Bar at 301 Broadway Sunday night when they observed Baker laying down inside the doorway to the bar with a handgun clearly visible sticking out from his waistband.
Officers asked if he was OK, and Baker replied “No, I’m drunk!”. Police took him into custody and he was transported to booking. He is now free on pre-trial release.
DUI Crash: Travel Nurse refuses care because “I’m a nurse”, resists arrest, handgun — Megan Thaggard
32-year-old Travel Nurse Megan Elizabeth Thaggard is jailed in lieu of a $7,500 bond after police found her crashed into a crosswalk pole in downtown Nashville. When they attempted to provide her with medical assistance she refused, declaring “I don’t need care, because I’m a traveling RN!” She would eventually blow a 0.151 % BAC on a breathalyzer after admitting to drinking prior to driving. She also had a 9mm Kimber loaded with hollow-point bullets in the car within her reach. She actively resisted arrest for several minutes until police were eventually able to get her into custody. She was transported a few hundred feet to booking and charged with DUI, handgun under the influence, resisting arrest, and no insurance.

Nashville attorney Richard Dumas was found asleep in his car on Nolensville road this weekend, sitting crossways with traffic. When even woke up, he drove the car down a steep ditch, despite a citizen attempting to help him. He reportedly reeked of alcohol and had vomited on himself. Also, he was carrying a loaded Polish P-64 Makarov handgun in the vehicle.

Metro Police found Deandre Conway, 20, asleep in the driver’s seat of a vehicle parked taking up two spaces and under the influence of marijuana, at the Mapco on Gallatin Pike in #EastNashville. On his passenger seat was a handgun hidden under a jacket and ski mask.
