32-year-old Travel Nurse Megan Elizabeth Thaggard is jailed in lieu of a $7,500 bond after police found her crashed into a crosswalk pole in downtown Nashville. When they attempted to provide her with medical assistance she refused, declaring “I don’t need care, because I’m a traveling RN!” She would eventually blow a 0.151 % BAC on a breathalyzer after admitting to drinking prior to driving. She also had a 9mm Kimber loaded with hollow-point bullets in the car within her reach. She actively resisted arrest for several minutes until police were eventually able to get her into custody. She was transported a few hundred feet to booking and charged with DUI, handgun under the influence, resisting arrest, and no insurance.

22-year-old Yessica Leon was booked into the Metro Nashville Jail early Monday morning after police responded to a single-vehicle crash of which she was the driver. Yessica admitted to having “3-4 drinks” at a local bar before attempting to drive herself home. 34-year-old Rebecca Moss was booked into the Metro Nashville Jail Friday night after a traffic stop resulted in her arrest. Officers initially pulled her over for failing to maintain her lane of travel, and once stopped, quickly realized she was driving under the influence. Officers noted an open pint of whiskey in the cup holder next to her, and when she was asked to step out of the vehicle, she climbed completely over the console and out the passenger side door, while exclaiming how mad her lawyer was going to be at her. Moss was charged with having an open container, and DUI 2nd, and is free on pre-trial release.

Man charged with DUI after night out with wife, who Ubers home, instead — Cameron Nichols

Police say 32-year-old Cameron Nichols was standing outside his crashed vehicle, which went through a utility pole, when they arrived at Edmonson Pike Saturday night and reeked of alcohol. He explained that he and his wife, Holly Nichols, had been out to dinner, and he consumed two beers and an “old-fashioned” cocktail. His wife had taken an Uber home, but he decided to drive. He provided his credit card when asked for his ID, showed signs of intoxication on all field sobriety tests, and then told officers he had not eaten for “several hours” despite claiming he had just had dinner. Nichols was transported to the Metro Nashville jail, and charged with DUI – driving under the influence. He is free on pre-trial release.

Hoan Bui charged with DUI after drinking downtown & driving wrong way on Bell Rd — 0.115 BAC

37-year-old Hoan Bui told police he had 2-3 beers and a shot of liquor in downtown Nashville before crashing his vehicle early Saturday morning. A witness observed him driving the wrong way on Bell Road just before the crash. Bui blew a 0.115 BAC on a breathalyzer and was charged with DUI, and was additionally booked on an outstanding citation from 2018, charging him with driving on a suspended license. “I’m lit… I know I’m drunk… give me a sec, I’m a little tipsy…” are all things that police say 24-year-old Mvuezolo Rose Mapangala said after she was found in a crashed vehicle on Edmonson Pike. A witness to the crash, who pulled her from the wreckage, says she also offered him $300 to go on about his day and “let her go”. Court records show she performed poorly on field sobriety tests and was transported to booking where she was charged with DUI and violation of the implied consent law. She is free on a $3,000 bond.

25-year-old Conner Brown blew a 0.244% BAC on a breathalyzer early Tuesday morning, which is three times the legal limit in Tennessee. Police encountered Brown after he missed the turn into his East Nashville apartment complex and got his vehicle stuck on the side of the road, perpendicular to the lanes of travel. Brown admitted to drinking before driving, performed poorly on field sobriety tests, and agreed to the breathalyzer. Brown is charged with DUI and is free on pre-trial release.

Restaurant owner Thomas Courtney sentenced to 1 year in jail on DUI 3rd charge, loses license for 6 years

Mt. Juliet Business owner Thomas Courtney was sentenced on Monday to an 11 months and 29 days jail sentence in his DUI 3rd case in Davidson County. He was already in custody for his trial after a Nashville judge revoked his bond for multiple probation violations and repeated arrests in Wilson county, who continued to ROR him back into society to continue to commit crimes without penalty. As a part of his Nashville sentence, he will be required to participate in and complete the New Avenue alcohol treatment program within the Davidson County Detention Center. After applying the automatic percentage of sentencing and time already served, Courtney is scheduled for release on July 26th of 2022, at which time he will still have trials and sentencing in Wilson County for cases including a probation violation (x3), domestic assault, and driving on a revoked license (x2). As part of his Davidson County sentence, Courtney will lose his driver’s license for six years. Judge Higgins set a special condition to Courtney’s sentence, which prevents him from petitioning the court for an early release, for any reason, other than the stand time calculations given to every inmate at the facility.

Former Live Nation executive over Ascend Amphitheater charged with DUI — Brian Traeger arrested

41-year-old Brian Traeger, who was formerly president of Live Nation’s Tennessee Business Unit in charge of programming at Ascend Amphitheater, told police he was completely at fault for hitting a parked car while driving his blue Audi A4 Saturday evening in Nashville, claiming he was texting and driving when the accident occurred. Officer say they smelled alcohol coming from Traeger’s breath, and that he was swaying and slurring his words during the interaction. When asked to perform field sobriety tests, Traeger reportedly agreed initially, then retracted his compliance and stated “just take a blood draw because it’s the most accurate”. Traeger was transported to Metro General Hospital for a blood draw and then to the Metro Nashville Jail, where he was charged with driving under the influence. He is free on pre-trial release.

Intoxicated woman wrecks car at police headquarters & urinates on their steps — April Watkins arrested

Metro Nashville Police say 46-year-old April Watkins crashed her vehicle into the concrete outside of MNPD Headquarters, located at 600 Murfreesboro Pike, in the early morning hours of December 3rd. A Metro Security Officer disabled her vehicle so she wouldn’t drive away, and responding police officers found the “highly intoxicated” woman squatting while urinating on the steps of the facility. She was half-dressed with her legging pulled down and shirt half-off, according to a police report. She was so intoxicated that field sobriety tests were unable to be performed, and officers say they found prescribed Hydrocodone in her vehicle during a tow inventory, and believe that could have attributed to the unusually high level of intoxication. Woman charged with DUI-2nd after found unconscious behind the wheel in West Nashville — Leann Bernard

41-year-old State of Tennessee employee Leann ‘Lee-Lea’ Bernard was found unconscious behind the wheel of her vehicle in West Nashville, and medics alerted police when they revived her and she was stumbling around with no obvious medical reason. She eventually admitted to officers she had been drinking, and they located two empty beer cans and one nearly empty bottle of vodka in the vehicle. Bernard pleaded guilty to a prior DUI in July of 2019. She was given pre-trial release on the new charge. Bernard is a software developer under the Department of Finance, according to state records.

Metro Nashville Police say 46-year-old Lynn Flick told them he was coming from drinking “two hard seltzers” at Tribe Bar on Church Street when he crashed his Jeep Liberty into fixtures on McGavock Pike, fled the scene of the wreck, and began hopping fences into backyards. One witness, who provided cell phone video of the incident, says he appeared to be asleep behind the wheel at the time of the crash. As police found him, they noted he was “clumsily” climbing over a fence gate, which was obviously unlocked and he could have simply opened. “My internal voice told me not to smoke today” says woman charged with marijuana DUI — Karina Garcia Betancourt

When stopped by police, 21-year-old Karin Garcia Betancourt told officers her internal voice told her not to smoke marijuana today, but she says she did it anyway because it helps with her anxiety and to be more outgoing in her job as a waitress at a local Mexican restaurant. She was initially pulled over Thursday afternoon for going 79 in a 55 mph zone, but officers quickly determined she was under the influence of marijuana while driving. She gave officers the remaining roaches and blunts she had in the vehicle and was charged with DUI, drug possession, and driving without a license. The MNPD Officer noted she was “cooperative and friendly during the interaction” and she thoroughly explained how she was in the “process of cutting back from daily marijuana usage to weekly usage, with the eventual goal of no marijuana usage”. DUI: Popular cake maker found unconscious & slumped over behind wheel of car in traffic — Laquita Cole

Metro Nashville Police found 37-year-old Laquita Cole unconscious and slumped over the wheel of her running vehicle just before midnight Monday near the intersection of Elm Hill Pike and Donelson Pike. Responding officers could not awaken her, however, Nashville Fire eventually got her to a semi-alert state with a sternum rub. Police say she didn’t know where she was geographically, but stated she wasn’t tired and had no medical issues. Indicators of both alcohol and marijuana use were present in the vehicle, however, officers seemed to suspect another substance was also on board.

She continued to nod off during the arrest process, and had to be roused back to an alert state. She was transported to General Hospital for a blood draw, then to booking, where she was charged with DUI and freed on pre-trial release. Cole is well-known in the city for her designer cakes and food plates, with over 12,000 followers just on Instagram, where she posts the daily dishes for ordering. Hours prior to her arrest, she had posted “My life is like a movie, I make my own stunts”.

DUI: Soldier ends up on South Nashville train tracks after night at downtown bar, blows .204 BAC— Cliff O’Brien

25-year-old Clifford ‘Cliff’ O’Brien was booked into the Metro Jail just before daylight Sunday morning, charged with DUI. Police were called to the CSX train yard just after 4 a.m. as security had stopped a vehicle they observed driving on the dozens of train tracks at the location. The driver, who lives in Clarksville, told officers he had left a bar in downtown Nashville and his GPS took him to the South Nashville train yard, and onto the tracks, and he didn’t know how to get out. When asked to do a one-legged stand, the soldier instead marched forward while holding each foot in the air for three seconds. He eventually blew a 0.204 BAC on the breathalyzer. He is free on pre-trial release.

Metro Police say 40-year-old Christina Morales crashed in North Nashville, then drove her vehicle to another location before calling police to report the crash.
