Markus Higgs found unresponsive in downtown Nashville alley; assaults those helping him

In the early morning hours of July 1st, 29-year-old Markus Higgs was found unresponsive in an alley near 417 Broadway in downtown Nashville. As officers checked on his welfare, they could see he had slight breath movements in his chest, but either could not or would not answer any questions such as who he was, where he was, how old he was, or what he was doing there. Medics responded to the scene and assisted him to a stretcher when he suddenly swung at one of the first responders and began screaming at police and kicking at officers, making impact with Officer Wheatley’s chest. He was then cuffed, restrained, and transported to booking.

Kevon Shinault jailed on $80K bond after pulling handgun & making threats

21-year-old Kevon Shinault was reportedly in an argument with his girlfriend, Savanah Luffman, about the house being dirty. She says Kevon grabbed her by the hair and attempted to throw her down the stairs, threw her on the bed, and pulled at her clothes. When she yelled downstairs for her mother, April Goodrich, to call the police, Kevon reportedly pulled a handgun from his waistband, racked the slide, and asked if she wanted to die today, further stating if the cops came that everyone would. This placed both women in fear for their lives.

Zackary Herder charged with attacking two bouncers at Losers Bar in Nashville

27-year-old Zackary Herder is charged with assault and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon after two security guards from Losers Bar & Grill, Alan Evans & Garrett Hudson, reported to police reported they were attacked. Hudson had asked Herder to leave the location after he became disruptive, at which time he says Herder grabbed a glass beer bottle at attempted to hit him with it. As he was being escorted downstairs, Herder punched Evans in the face. Herder was detained when police arrived, and he reportedly confessed to the assaults.

Brooklyn Campbell attempts to run over & shoots at her boyfriend during breakup

20-year-old Brooklyn Campbell was amid a breakup with her boyfriend, Carl (CJ) Hollingsworth, in May when they began to fight over a cell phone. Police say Brooklyn attempted to run over her ex-lover with her 2020 Altima while threatening to shoot up the area, however, he escaped by running in between two parked vehicles. She continued to plow into one of the parked vehicles, undeterred by his attempt to run away. She then pulled a handgun and fired it out the driver’s side window with several people in the immediate vicinity as she fled the area. Warrants were issued for her arrest, and she was jailed on them this week.

Matthew Charboneau charged after breaking MNPD Officer’s ankle in downtown fight

Metro Nashville Police responded to Rippy’s on Broadway in downtown Nashville on Saturday in response to 41-year-old Matthew Charboneau yelling and causing a scene with patrons on the sidewalk. Officer Kevin Clausius attempted to de-escalate the situation, however, Charboneau came at him aggressively and the two fought. Police say that during the fight, Charboneau broke the officer’s left ankle. Once he was cuffed, Charboneau then attempted to headbutt Officer Erickson. The officer was transported to Vanderbilt for his broken ankle.

Sammie Deas charged after whipping boyfriend with phone charger; punching him in face

19-year-old Sammie Deas is charged with the domestic assault of his boyfriend, Jantoine Polk, who witnesses say he whipped with a phone charger and punched in the face. Officers arrived at the Antioch apartment Thursday, where Polk says the argument began as he was letting a friend use Sammie’s phone charger. This upset Sammie, who whipped the victim twice with the cord of the phone charger, leaving multiple injuries to his chest. Sammie then came from behind to strangle him until he was unable to breathe. He then reportedly punched Polk in the face 4-5 times as he attempted to escape the apartment.

Measia Lasha Johnson brandishes handgun & pours Kool-Aid in gas tank of party bus in downtown Nashville

Police say 28-year-old Measia Lasha Johnson entered a downtown Nashville stripper party bus on May 20th near the intersection of 1st Ave S. & Broadway, brandishing a handgun and threatening to shoot. She used the pistol to bust out a TV screen at the front of the strip club on wheels and then exited the bus, firing a live round into the air. She then took a bottle of Kool-Aid and poured it into the gas tank of the party bus. One witness states they overheard the male victim tell Johnsonson “give me back my gun”. One person reports hearing a gunshot, but most witnesses would not confirm hearing it. The three victims of the aggravated assault with a deadly weapon are identified as Keia Lopez, William Miller, and Ednia Sharks (diadadoll).

Brian Marsh pulls gun on his grandmother & demands money to pay for a lawyer

21-year-old Brian Marsh was booked into the Metro Nashville Jail Tuesday on an outstanding warrant charging him with the felony aggravated assault of his grandmother with a deadly weapon. The warrant states that two days after Christmas, Brian Marsh showed up at the home of his grandmother, Rebecca Marsh, while he was high on drugs and brandishing a pistol which he waved and pointed at her. She pushed the gun out of her way and told him to go on, at which time he grabbed her arms and said “I know you have money, you’re just not giving it to me”. The grandmother told detectives he was seeking money in order to pay for a criminal defense lawyer for an arrest in Rutherford County on drug and gun charges.

Pineville Predators: Three indicted in kidnapping, rape, & assault of a runaway juvenile in Nashville

Police say three high school friends who moved from Louisiana to Nashville after they graduated Pineville High School in 2020, participated in the assault and rape of a 16-year-old runaway who was staying with them at their Priest Lake apartment. A newly unsealed Grand Jury indictment charges 20-year-old Albert “Riley” Roberts IV with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, especially aggravated kidnapping, and reckless endangerment. Roberts was taken into custody Thursday and is free on a $100,000 bond. His co-defendants, 20-year-old Ashton Ivy Cannon, and 20-year-old Edsaviour Ricshaun Groves, both have outstanding warrants for their arrests. Cannon is charged with rape, aggravated rape, and kidnapping. Groves is charged with rape, aggravated rape, and solicitation of a minor.

Mad about a breakup, Nykisha Gooch slices ex & his car with a boxcutter at East Nashville intersections

29-year-old Nykisha Gooch was jailed this week on multiple outstanding felony warrants including aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and vandalism. Her ex-boyfriend, Michael Wilson, called police on April 25th to report Kisha had just sliced him with a box cutter at an intersection in East Nashville. Wilson says he was in the left turn lane at Gallatin & East Palestine Ave when a brown Chevy Impala sped up from behind and blocked him in. ‘Kisha’ suddenly appears from the Impala, broke the door handle of his car, and dragged the box cutter across his vehicle, causing several thousand dollars in damage, including denting the vehicle. As Wilson exited the car to put a stop to the vandalism Gooch attacked him and struck his palm with the blade. The couple had only dated for two weeks before he broke up with her.

Steven Cole assaults ex-lover with a candle after she attacks him with hot rice

32-year-old Steven Cole was jailed Thursday on an outstanding warrant charging him with felony aggravated assault. His former roommate and lover, Laquisha Lacy, contacted police on May 12th to report a food fight turned felony incident that occurred two weeks prior, on April 27th. She says the two were having a verbal argument when he left the shared apartment and tried to come back inside, at which time he tossed things around the home. Lacy states she threw hot rice on Steven Cole. In retaliation, Cole admits he threw a candle at Lacy, striking her in the head. She had to be transported to the hospital for her injuries and required eight stitches to close the gash on her forehead.

Marie Cunningham charged with assaulting her boyfriend with a metal walking cane

Metro Nashville Police responded to Claiborne Street Thursday, where Eugene McClain advised he was sleeping on the living room couch around 3:30 a.m. when his girlfriend, 66-year-old Marie Cunningham, attempted to wake him up by striking him twice in the arm with a metal walking cane while saying, “You ain’t sleep!” Officers documented bruising on his arm, consistent with being assaulted with a cane. Ms. Cunningham denies that any assault took place. A cane was located inside the home and seized as evidence. It is unknown if they patched up their relationship since she bonded out.

Elaine Nugent charged in brutal candlestick holder assault of her son — blames it on him

73-year-old Elaine McCarty Nugent, of Joelton, is charged with the wild aggravated domestic assault of her grown son using a candlestick holder, leaving him with three bloody severe lacerations to the top of his head. When confronted about the assault, she tried to downplay that anything happened, eventually blaming her own son, saying he must have injured himself since he was “mentally ill and suicidal,” a claim she attempted to use multiple times. She was “verbally combative and uncooperative” during the investigation, according to officers. Her disdain for the law and law enforcement isn’t anything new, as she frequently ignores court dates and will be extradited to Sumner County when she’s done in Nashville to face multiple failures to appear and a DUI case she’s been avoiding there since 2019.

Man strangles boyfriend; breaks turn-signal & wiper levers from steering column of his car — Nyitrell Debardelaben

23-year-old Nyitrell Debardelaben was driving on Gallatin Pike when he got into an argument with his lover, Jordan Stone. Nyitrell, who goes by the nickname ‘Moo Moo’ on social media, stopped the car and went into a business. When he came back outside, Jordan says Nyitrell reached through the passenger-side window, grabbed his shirt, clawed at his face, and strangled him with one of his hands. As Jordan called 911, Nyitrell returned to the driver’s side of the vehicle and broke off the levers from the steering column that operated the turn signals and the windshield wipers. Police arrived and documented bruising and cuts on the victim’s neck and face.

Man charged with felony assault after refusing to follow his girlfriend back on social media — Andrew Wright

Tiffany Lea says the argument with her on-again/off-again boyfriend of two years, 41-year-old Andrew Wright, began when he refused to follow her back on social media after the two recently reunited and he spent the night at her home. The morning after, she confronted him about why he wouldn’t follow her back, eventually demanding he deletes the photos of her from his cell phone. When he wasn’t satisfied they were also removed from the ‘deleted’ items, too, she took his phone and went to the bathroom to make the deletions herself. That’s when she found nude photos of other women in a ‘hidden’ folder on his phone.

She says he then entered the bathroom and pushed her back with his hands around he throat. She broke away, and he jumped on a conference call for work. While he was going that she demanded he leaves and told him she had viewed the ‘hidden’ images. She says he once again charged at her and strangled her against the counter, breaking part of it. She says he continued the assault throughout the house, pushing and jumping on top of her while asking “Is this what you want?”. He then tossed an ottoman at her. Officers documented the broken cabinet and multiple injuries on the victim.

Joshua Holloway charged after brutally assaulting a man in front of a police officer

Sgt. Matthew Evans was in his marked patrol car when he witnesses 23-year-old Joshua Holloway punching John Dudas in the face. The victim attempted to flee into the crowd, however, Holloway pursued him, and when the man fell to the ground he began to brutally punch and kick the man, who sustained serious injuries, including missing teeth. He claimed the man had assaulted one of his friends, however, multiple independent witnesses confirmed Holloway threw the first punch.

Tourist bites Nashville Police Officer & Medic — Jessica Russell free on Pre-Trial Release

33-year-old Jessica Rose Russell was found in downtown Nashville extremely intoxicated, unable to care for herself, and believing she was in Illinois. Medics were in the process of assisting her when she became combative, and officers arrived to assist. As they were attempting to get her onto the gurney, she attempted to free herself from the soft restraints they had placed on her and became more aggressive. She lunged at medics several times and eventually bit medic Alexander Martin, but did not break the skin. Then she latched her mouth onto Officer Timothy Lehnert, breaking the skiing and drawing blood. Both Russell and Officer Lehnert were treated at the hospital. Russell is now free on pre-trial release.

Father & Son Tourists cause CODE 5000 #OfficerDown call on Broadway — Weston & William Kandarian

24-year-old Weston Kandarian says off-duty South Carthage Police Officer, Kenneth Thomas, who was working as security for Tootsie’s on Broadway, asked his father, 55-year-old William Kandarian, to leave the venue due to being disruptive and reportedly standing on barstools. Weston interjected and punched and attacked the off-duty officer, while his father, William, placed the officer-turned-bouncer into a chokehold until he lost consciousness. Weston claims the officer is the one who placed him in a headlock first and started the physical confrontation. The victim was transported to Vanderbilt for treatment.

Dematheus Burns pulls gun on man who backed into his vehicle, demands immediate payment

18-year-old Dematheus Burns was jailed this week on an outstanding warrant charging him with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. Police say someone accidentally backed into his vehicle in an apartment parking lot. In response, Burns exited his vehicle, produced a handgun, aimed it at the other driver, Roger Alexander III, and demanded immediate payment for the damages. A female in the car, believed to be Alexis Hill, the sister of Burns, was also present. Over the next several days, Hill also contacted the victim by phone and text demanding immediate direct payment.

Miles Quirk free on a $15,000 bond after an absolute brutal attack on his girlfriend

31-year-old Miles Quirk faces a felony charge after police say he pushed his girlfriend, Lauren Mitchell, down a flight of stairs, and once she was at the bottom he got on top of her and banged her head against the floor while punching her in the face. He then reportedly strangled her until she passed out. Neighbors called police and officers documented multiple injuries on the victim, including a large forehead contusion, lacerations to her nose, ligature marks on her neck, swelling and bruising on her face and eyes, and a puncture mark on her left chest.
