Woman charged with DUI after drinking a bottle of wine, backing into a parked car

28-year-old Julia Harper is charged with DUI after she admittedly drunk a bottle’s worth of wine then backed into a car in a parking lot. She blew a 0.144 BAC, nearly twice the legal limit.

Metro Police responded to 807 18th Ave South in the early hours of Friday morning for a reported crash with property damage. Officers found Julia Harper sitting in her vehicle, which she had backed into the car behind her. As she stepped out of the car, officers noted she smelled of alcohol. Harper admitted to having “a few glasses of wine” which she equated to “about 1 bottle”.

She told police she drove her car to her friend’s apartment and as she was attempting to park she backed into a vehicle. She reportedly showed multiple indicators of impairment on field sobriety tests. She then took a breathalyzer test, which resulted in a 0.144 BAC, nearly double the legal limit of .08 in Tennessee.

Julia F. Harper was booked into the Metro Nashville Jail at 2:35 a.m. on 08/06, charged with driving under the influence. She is free on pre-trial release and scheduled to appear in court later this month.
