Man charged with assault & strangulation of fiancé — Austin Collom arrested

35-year-old Austin Collom is charged with the felony aggravated assault & strangulation of his fiancé after grabbing her by the hair, shoving her against a wall, and strangling her, according to an arrest report, and the injuries sustained by the victim.

Austin Collom was in the pool having a drink when his fiancé came home from work last Tuesday afternoon. She joined him for a bit, then went inside to make dinner. While preparing dinner, he began an argument over the pool’s filter, and to avoid further she left the kitchen to go shower.

After the shower, she was straightening her hair when she says Autin Collom approached her and threatened to kill her before grabbing her by the hair and shoving her against a wall. He then grabbed her by the hair and shoved her down onto the floor. She was strangled during the assault. He then retrieved a box with a knife inside and began to hit her in the back with the knife. After the assault, he insisted she gather her belongings and leaves, which she did. She sustained bruising on her chest and left elbow, and scratches and on the neck consistent with strangulation, according to investigators.

Austin K. Collom, 35, was booked into the Metro Nashville Jail at 10:17 a.m. on 08/17, charged with felony aggravated assault/strangulation. He is free on a $25,000 bond.
