28-year-old Thomas Pontes told police he had “just a few” drinks at a bar with friends before attempting to drive home. He crashed into a parked car on a neighborhood street in South Nashville.
Metro Nashville Police responded to Bransford Avenue at 12:30 a.m. Wednesday, where they located a 2013 Chevrolet Cruze that crashed into a legally parked car on the street. The Cruze was driven by Thomas Pontes, age 28. Pontes told police he was driving home from being at the bar with friends, and “was tired” when he lost control of the vehicle.
Police describe him as having slurred speech, smelling of alcohol, and having difficulty standing. He admitted to drinking prior to driving. He refused all sobriety tests and a breath test. He was transported to booking, and charged with driving under the influence and violation of the implied consent law. He is free on pre-trial release.
