4 charged with possession of 1 lb of marijuana; all deny knowledge of it

Eh Moo Maung, 24, Paw Bay Law, 21, Kyaw Da, 24, and Sa Mo, 21 are all charged with felony possession of marijuana after officers stopped their white Dodge Charger, claiming they were unable to read the license plate number due to a tinted covering. A pound of marijuana was under the driver’s seat, along with a jar of kief and baggies.

Metro Nashville Police Officers Jonathan Watch and Yunus Adak conducted a traffic stop just before midnight Wednesday on a white Dodge Charger, claiming they were unable to read the license plate due to the dark-tinted covering, which made it an illegal license plate cover.

Upon approaching the vehicle, police say they immediately smelled the odor of marijuana and conducted a search of the vehicle. It was unclear how the officers determined the smell was from marijuana and not CBD. Under the driver’s seat, approximately one pound of leafy marijuana was located, along with a jar of concentrated THC (kief), alongside some plastic baggies.

All occupants denied knowledge of everything found during the search, so police used the “constructive possession” theory to charge them all with a felony drug offense. A night court magistrate set them all free on pre-trial release.
