Old Hickory sports coach charged with photographing minor in shower of his home

36-year-old Jeremy Morphis is held in a Nashville jail on a $75,000 bond after a Grand Jury indicted him for illegal photography of a minor. He is alleged to have set up a camera in the bathroom of his home and photographed an underage relative while they were showering. The indictment says the photo was taken for the purpose of sexual arousal or gratification. Morphis was a beloved coach of children’s sports in Nashville / Old Hickory, including DuPont-Hadley middle school, and at one point he was a guard at RiverBend Prison.

A Davidson County Grand Jury returned a true bill last week, indicting Jeremy Wayne Morphis, 36, on the felony charge of aggravated unlawful photography of a minor. Court documents indicate the event happened on November 22nd, 2020, when Jeremy Morphis is alleged to have placed a camera in the bathroom of his home, capturing a nude image of an underage relative who was taking a shower in the bathroom. The camera reportedly dislodged from where he had placed it, alerting others to its presence. Though sparse of details, the indictment alleges Morphis placed the camera there for the purpose of sexual arousal or gratification.

Jeremy Wayne Morphis was booked into the Metro Nashville jail on the felony charge of aggravated unlawful photography of a minor and remains jailed in lieu of a $75,000 bond. Morphis is a suspect in another investigation, in which two vehicles at the residence were set on fire not long after the discovery of the camera. Social media is filled with prior endorsements of Morphis and his coaching abilities, and his work with small children in helping them grow and prosper. Some of those are featured below the indictment. Sources familiar with the incident say Morphis has developed a drug problem in recent years and has not sought treatment.
