Knife-wielding wife charged after husband tells police knife was inches away from his face

62-year-old Warreta Lavender was charged with aggravated assault and violation of conditions of release after she reportedly threatened her husband with a kitchen knife over car keys.

On December 3rd, Metro Nashville Police officers were dispatched to the home of Hal Taylor and his wife, Warreta Lavender. Taylor told officers that he and his wife got into an argument over car keys. Taylor stated at one point during the altercation, Lavender grabbed a knife and said “I’m going to cut you up and cut your clothes.”

According to Taylor, this statement was made while Lavender was inches away from his face, with a knife in hand. After officers arrived, they noted a knife was on the counter. They also searched Lavender in their system and discovered she had bond conditions that stated she was not to harass or threaten Taylor.

Warreta Lavender was arrested and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and violation of conditions of release. She was later released on a $22,500 bond.
