35-year-old Jonathan Mcdaniel was charged with possession of a handgun while under the influence, public intoxication, and resisting arrest after employees claimed he drunkenly tapped on the door of a liquor store with a pistol.
On November 22nd, Metro Nashville Police officers responded to a suspect with a weapon at Priest Point Wine & Spirits on 3688 Bell Road. When officers arrived at the location, witnesses told them that a heavily intoxicated male was refused entry into the establishment and began to tap on the front glass door with a black pistol in response. Officers spotted Jonathan Mcdaniel, who matched the description given, at the neighboring Subway.
Mcdaniel had a pistol in his back pants pocket and was noticeably intoxicated. Jonathan was stumbling and had slurred speech. He refused verbal orders given by officers multiple times and occasionally reached for the firearm in his pocket. Jonathan was taken into custody but resisted while being placed in handcuffs and until he was placed in the back of a patrol vehicle. Jonathan does possess a valid Tennessee concealed handgun permit.
Jonathan Mcdaniel was arrested and charged with public intoxication, possession of a handgun while under the influence, and evading arrest. He was later released on a $2,600 bond.
