Man breaks into car, says he was “looking for a place to sleep”

58-year-old Marty Waynick was charged with burglary of a motor vehicle after he broke into a man’s vehicle and told police he was “looking for a place to sleep.”

On November 5th, Metro Nashville Police Officer Conger responded to 2028 Straightway Avenue in reference to a man breaking into someone’s vehicle. Gemaal Aaron stated he returned home and saw a shadow inside of his vehicle.

He told police that he went outside to investigate and discovered Marty Waynick going through his glove box and center console. Aaron stated Marty took off running when he saw him. Per the affidavit, Aaron caught up to him at 1500 Porter Road and pinned him to the ground until the police arrived. He told the police that Marty did not take anything from his vehicle. Marty told Officer Conger he was “in the vehicle looking for a place to sleep.” Marty also had outstanding warrants out of Davidson County.

Marty Waynick was arrested and charged with burglary of a motor vehicle. He is currently jailed in lieu of a $2,000 bond.
