Walmart shoplifter caught with more than he stole

27-year-old Jonathan Ervin was charged with theft of merchandise and possession of meth and marijuana after he was caught stealing shirts from Walmart.

On October 6th, Metro Nashville Police were dispatched to a shoplifting call at Walmart located at 4040 Nolensville Pike where they made contact with an off-duty officer. The officer had taken Jonathan Ervin into custody for stealing $15.48 worth of shirts.

The off-duty officer also searched Ervin’s person before officers arrived on the scene and found in his left pocket a black container with 0.035 grams of meth and 1.5 grams of marijuana inside. Officers noted that he had a parole violation and the outstanding warrants were verified. They also stated he did not resist arrest and that he had meth and marijuana on him.

Jonathan Ervin was arrested and charged with theft of property and possession of meth and marijuana. He was later released on his own recognizance.
