Thirsty woman charged after “chilling” in stranger’s vehicle

25-year-old Dominique Chapman was charged with burglary of a motor vehicle after she was found rummaging through a man’s car and drinking his water bottle.

On October 7th, Metro Nashville Police officers responded to a call at 150 4th Avenue North. Marvin Whitworth contacted police saying that he had Dominique Chapman in custody because she broke into his vehicle. When officers arrived, they were in contact with Marvin, a witness by the name of Ms. Mullins, and Dominique who had his water bottle in her hand.

Marvin and Ms. Mullins claimed they saw Dominique in his car going through his items and drinking out of his water bottle. He told police his car was locked, but one of his windows was ajar and he believed Dominique got in that way. She was then read her rights and taken into custody. While answering questions, she stated she was just “chilling” in Marvin’s vehicle and that it was unlocked.

Dominique Chapman was arrested and charged with burglary of a motor vehicle. She is currently jailed in lieu of a $2,500 bond.
