33-year-old Rodriquez Perkins was charged with two counts of aggravated assault and false imprisonment when he threatened to cut his girlfriend’s fingers off with a hatchet.

On August 24th, authorities received a call from Days Inn at 3312 Dickerson Pike Room 221. It was said that a man, later identified as Rodriquez Perkins, in the background could be heard asking a woman who she was trying to call and asking why she had a phone in her hand.

The hotel front desk told police the hotel room belonged to Amy Acosta. Officers got to the room and announced themselves. Acosta could be heard inside yelling, “please come in please come in!” After the sound of furniture knocking around and police announcing themselves again, the locked door was opened and they entered to find the hotel dresser, nightstand, and chair blocking the door. Acosta was escorted out to talk with officers.

Acosta told police Perkins barricaded the door and told her she wouldn’t be allowed to leave. Acosta said Perkins was threatening her with a hatchet he had in the room and told her that he would chop her fingers off with it. He was said to have paced back and forth with the hatchet in his hand, telling her he would kill her. Acosta and Perkins admitted the argument was about a debt Acosta owed to him.

Rodriquez Perkins was arrested and charged with two counts of aggravated assault and false imprisonment. His bond was set at $60,000.
