Aerial arts instructor charged with public intoxication after concerned party calls police

29-year-old Calyssa Byrd was charged with public intoxication when a third party called police after seeing a man drag her near some bushes at the Walk of Fame Park. The charge was later dismissed.

On June 17th, a Metro Nashville officer was dispatched to the Walk of Fame Park located at 127 4th Avenue South for a welfare check at the behest of a third party. According to the affidavit, Calyssa Byrd was observed to be intoxicated and a man had dragged her near some bushes and was seated on a bench.

The officer noted she was laying down but thrashing about and screaming incoherently near Symphony Place entrance. She called the man a friend but could not advise officers of his name. An ambulance was called but she declined aid and when authorities could not contact someone Calyssa Byrd was transported to booking for her own safety.

Calyssa Byrd was arrested and charged with public intoxication. The charge was later dismissed.
