27-year-old Coreysha Brown was charged with vandalism and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon when she took a bat to the home of a woman who had been involved in an incident with her sister earlier in the day.
On April 22nd, officers arrived at 1306 11th Avenue South and immediately observed Rashika Hockett near a grey Cadillac with the windows on the right and back shattered. Coreysha Brown was located across the street and she explained that she had come to speak with Hockett about an earlier incident that occurred at 1035 Edgehill Avenue. Brown attested that upon her arrival Hockett had come out of her home shrieking. According to affidavits, Coreysha Brown admitted to smashing the windows of the vehicle and hitting Hockett with a bat.
Rashika Hockett told police she had armed herself with a knife when Brown showed up with a bat and reported that Brown had hit her in the back with the weapon. Earlier the same day police had been called to a dispute between Hockett and Coreysha’s sister Keyosha Brown. Because Brown went to Hockett’s residence with a bat, officers determined her to be the primary aggressor.
Coreysha Brown was arrested and charged with vandalism and assault with a deadly weapon. Her bond was set at $15,000.
