Husband charged with strangling wife after she announced intent to leave

22-year-old Brandon Touchstone was charged with aggravated assault by strangulation after he wrapped his arms around his wife’s neck and squeezed until she couldn’t breathe. He was told by his wife their relationship was over and he told officers he just meant to “hug her very tightly”.

On May 9th, officers were dispatched to 932 Bordeaux Place on a domestic disturbance call and found the defendant, Brandon Touchstone, standing on the front porch. He and the victim are married and they live together at Bordeaux Place. Touchstone’s statement for the police was that he and his wife Kira Currie were arguing. He left the residence to come back to a locked door. Currie told the police that their argument ended with her telling Touchstone that she no longer wanted to be in a relationship, which caused him to become angry and began yelling at Currie’s grandmother.

Then she said that she left the room to go sit on a couch and Touchstone followed her. He sat next to her and wrapped his arms around her neck and began to squeeze until she could not breathe, per report. Currie said that he did not stop until he heard a child crying. Her grandmother and she told Touchstone that he had to leave and that they locked the door in fear of what he would do when he got back.

Touchstone told police that he was just hugging her tightly and that he didn’t intend any harm. Police determined that he was aggressive from the collaborating stories told by the victim and the witness, her grandmother.

Brandon Touchstone was arrested and charged with aggravated assault by strangulation. His bond was set at $20,000.
