Drunken driver mistakes address and hits police car

26-year-old Mchael Martin was charged with driving under the influence after he went to the wrong address and then hit a police car.

On May 20th, police responded to a call from a woman at 545 Hickory Trail Drive saying someone was banging on her door and was trying to get inside. When they arrived, officers saw a truck backing out of the driveway.

Martin began backing out of the driveway, but the cops couldn’t get their vehicle out of the way quickly enough. Martin ended up hitting and damaging the front of the marked police car. Officers resolved that Martin had gone to the wrong address. At that time, they asked BUI/DUI enforcement Officer Brian Dugre to assist with further investigation.

Dugre spoke with Martin, noting that he had glassy, bloodshot eyes and slurred speech. Martin admitted to drinking, and he failed field sobriety tests. He blew a 0.185, which is over twice the legal limit for drivers in Tennessee.

Mchael Martin was arrested and charged with driving under the influence. He was later freed on pre-trial release.
