Nashville man charged for punching mother twice in the face and bringing cocaine to jail

21-year-old Jemini Lyons was charged with domestic assault and contraband in a penal institution after his mother reported to police that he punched her in the face twice. While being searched during booking, officers discovered cocaine on his person.

On April 15th, officers were dispatched to 2999 Smith Springs Road in reference to a domestic disturbance. Upon arrival, Twyla Dile informed officers that her son Jemini Lyons was at her home and was trying to get inside by kicking in the door.

She then let him inside and he immediately assaulted her by punching her in the face twice. Officers noted the observation of light redness to Twila’s nose. According to the affidavit, officers placed Jemini into custody instead of issuing him a misdemeanor citation due to the reasonable likelihood that he would assault his mother again.

Jemini was then transported to the Davidson County Sheriff’s Office booking area. During a search, officers found a white powdery substance inside of a folded piece of paper on Jemini’s person that tested positive for cocaine.

Jemini Lyons was charged with domestic assault and contraband in a penal institution. His bond was set at $10,000.
