53-year-old Stephen Voncanon was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon after a blowup ensued when he struck another individual’s vehicle with his vehicle’s door in a liquor store parking lot.
On January 3rd, a tiff in a parking lot located at 7066 Highway 70 South escalated into charges. According to the affidavit, Stephen Voncanon came out of RED Spirits & Wine and dinged Dakota Vermillion‘s vehicle. The report states that Dakota asked Stephen multiple times to stop hitting his vehicle with his own vehicle’s door.
Stephen became indignant and finally screamed “You want to go? Let’s go then!” while pulling out a fixed blade knife and holding it up to Dakota’s car window. Brock Steele, an employee of RED, was helping Stephen load his vehicle and witnessed the event.
Officer Sekou Samassai obtained Stephen’s name from the Gold’s Gym next door, where Stephen had left his information prior to entering RED. Using his name, Officer Samassai located Stephen Voncanon’s Maryland driver’s license photo. The officers used this to build a photo lineup on January 7th that was presented to both Dakota and Brock. Dakota was able to identify Stephen, but Brock was not.
On March 16th, Stephen Voncanon was arrested and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. His bond was set at $3,500.
