James Matlouck in custody after Metro SWAT standoff in North Nashville

James Matlouck, who was wanted on multiple outstanding warrants, was spotted by police on Monday. Before they could catch up to him, he ran to an apartment and barricaded himself inside. A multi-hour SWAT standoff resulted in his arrest.

Police were patrolling near Cumberland View Public Housing on Monday at 2:30 PM, when they noticed a person they believed to be a wanted suspect in a domestic violence incident earlier in the day, in addition to multiple other warrants for his arrest.

James Matlouck (MNPD)

An officer yelled his name “James”, at which time the suspect turned to look at the officer and take off running to the Cumberland View Apartments. Police then reviewed surveillance video of the area, which showed James Matlouck running to an apartment, and entering it, and the video showed he had not left the apartment since.

MNPD & SWAT surrounded the residence so he could not leave, and attempted to knock on the door with no result. Eventually negotiators were called out and several hours later contact was made with the suspect, James Matlouck, and he surrendered.

James Matlouck, 28, is currently held in lieu of a $42,500 bond on charges of domestic aggravated assault, violating an order of protection, vandalism, and failure to appear.
