Bell Road Wreck Results in Vehicular Homicide Arrest

Brandon David Mackay, 39, of Knoxville, is charged this morning with vehicular homicide by intoxication and driving on a suspended license for causing a Friday night collision on Bell Road over Percy Priest Dam that killed a 49-year-old Nashville woman. Lisa M. Stewart died shortly after arriving at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.

According to police, Mackay was driving a Ford F-150 pickup truck, and Stewart, driving a Honda CRV, were both traveling northeast on Bell Road at 9 p.m. when the F-150 struck the Honda in the rear, causing Stewart to lose control.  The Honda then hit a concrete wall and a large metal box before colliding with an on-coming Ford Expedition SUV.  The F-150 crossed into the opposite traffic lane and hit a sidewalk and fencing along the dam structure.
