37-year-old Aaron Nettles was charged with theft of property and burglary of a motor vehicle after police deduced he broke into a woman’s car by checking the name of the person who sold her stolen phone.
On October 19, the victim, Evelyn Hollis, reported that her vehicle was burglarized from a parking garage at Centennial Hospital, located at 2300 Patterson Street, the night before.
Per the affidavit, the passenger side window was broken out between 6-7 p.m., and her black iPhone XR and purse were both stolen from the vehicle. It was discovered her stolen phone was sold at an ecoATM by Aaron Nettles at 7:56 p.m. Due to the narrow timeframe between the theft and the phone being sold, police had probable cause that Aaron Nettles was the one who committed both crimes.
Aaron Nettles was arrested and charged with theft of property and burglary of a motor vehicle. He is currently in jail in lieu of a $27,500 bond.
