Nashville man strangles the mother of his children for contacting DCS

21-year-old Rikevion Crenshaw was charged with aggravated assault by strangulation and possession of marijuana when he strangled his children’s mother from behind after an argument that led to her contacting DCS, per report.

On July 15th, police arrived at 230 Dellway Villa Road in response to a domestic disturbance. The victim, Amanda Brown, is in a sexual relationship with the defendant, Rikevion Crenshaw, and said they had argued earlier in the day. Her statement was that they began arguing after she notified the Department of Child Services (DCS) about their children. This is when Crenshaw approached Brown from behind and placed her into a chokehold.

Brown said that she was unable to breathe until she broke free and notified the police with the help of a witness, Rashelle Bailey. Bailey gave an account similar to the story told by Brown during the investigation with the officers. Photos of Brown’s injuries were taken and she was transported to Skyline Medical Hospital. When Crenshaw was arrested, officers found a gram of marijuana in his right pocket.

Rikevion Crenshaw was arrested and charged with aggravated assault by strangulation and unlawful possession of marijuana. His bond was set at $25,000.
