Man flees MNPD & THP at 170 MPH… until he runs out of gas — Jamal Nobrega @itsjamal__ arrested

26-year-old Jamal Nobrega, who is well known in the underground car racing scene across the U.S. & Mexico, took multiple mid-state agencies on a chase overnight, with speeds reaching over 170 mph. Metro Nashville Police initially observed the 2020 Chevrolet Camero on I-65 N bearing a non-legal license with just ‘LTX’ printed on the plate in red and white lettering. The passenger side of the car was distinct with vinyl lettering of “ITSJAMAL__” on the window. After being initially paced at 85 in a 70 mph zone a traffic stop was attempted, however, the driver fled at high rates of speed. MNPD AirOne and a THP helicopter picked up the pursuit, observing the vehicle ‘blacked out’ several times (turned off all lights) in an attempt to avoid being tracked. Eventually, the driver was taken into custody in Sumner County and transported back to Nashville. When asked why he eventually stopped the chase, Jamal Nobrega replied “because I ran out of gas”. After being charged with reckless driving and felony evading arrest, he was sent home on pre-trial release.

Man strikes traffic security officer with vehicle at Opryland Hotel — Anas Alhams

30-year-old Anas Alhams is charged with aggravated assault after video captured him using his vehicle to strike a woman working as a traffic security officer at the Opryland Hotel Saturday. Alhams reportedly was upset that he was sitting in traffic and began to go around the traffic, turning into a non-public area of the property that was a dead-end. As he realized he had to come back out, he ignored both cross-traffic and the traffic officer responsible for the flow, and lunged his vehicle toward her, striking her in the leg as he fled past her at a high rate of speed. 24-year-old Thomas Mathews was booked into the Metro Nashville Jail early Sunday morning after police observed him exiting Nashville Underground at 105 Broadway, and pushing both patrons and staff, being unsteady on his feet and causing a disturbance. While no one wanted to prosecute for the assaults, he was too intoxicated to care for himself. Officers transported him to booking, and he was charged with public intoxication.

38-year-old Barquita Williams is charged with assault after she pushed a man to the ground who confronted her when she illegally parked in a handicapped parking spot at the Inglewood Kroger. Video footage captured the incident, and a citizen captured her license plate number, leading police to make the arrest. She is free on pre-trial release. 26-year-old Bethlehem Weimer was booked into the Metro Nashville Jail early Sunday morning after security at Tin Roof Broadway contacted police due to how unruly she was becoming inside the bar. Drunk soldier arrested after pooping pants at BNA while transporting 9 assault rifles— Donovan Paywa

22-year-old recent Air Assault graduate Donovan Paywa was booked into the Metro Nashville Jail Saturday afternoon after being refused service at Cafe Vino inside the Nashville Airport due to him having defecated on himself. The soldier was transporting 9 assault rifles aboard the aircraft and consumed three mixed drinks while inside the terminal. As staff noticed he had feces inside his jeans they alerted airport police, who arrived to find staff having to prop the soldier up, as he could no longer stand on his own without assistance. Officers advised Paywa he could call someone to come get him, go to the hospital to sober up and get checked out, or be arrested for public intoxication.

He repeatedly declined any assistance and started screaming “F-ck You” across the terminal, causing quite the scene. He was informed he was under arrest, and he refused to comply with the process, eventually having to be taken down by Airport Police by force as a passenger who happened to be an MP attempted to calm the young soldier, who then told the arresting officers “Your family is dead!”. Paywa was placed under arrest for public intoxication and transported to jail, where he was released and his case dismissed after an eight-hour intoxication hold. His social media shows him catching a return flight to New Mexico on Sunday.

27-year-old Shaquille Bowen faces multiple charges after an argument started as he was making gingerbread houses with his girlfriend, LaShonda Simpson, who had invited him over. Simpson says she went outside and sat in the car after the argument became heated and he yelled and threatened to break things, leading to the couple fighting in the grass outside for an “extended time” before taking it to the gravel on her patio, and back into the grass. Nashville Rapper ‘Big Geeche’ charged with assaulting yet another girlfriend — AKA Calvin Woods

27-year-old Calvin Woods Jr., who prefers to be known as ‘Big Geeche’, and has a recent release titled “Found Guilty”, is once again charged with assaulting a lover. In this most recent case, his girlfriend, Cayla Yates, called 911 to report he grabbed her by the throat with both hands as she attempted to stop him from taking a pair of AirPods, which he had bought for her, from her purse. She eventually grabbed a knife in what she describes as “self-defense”, and says he cut his own hand by grabbing it. Woods told police during an interview that he only pushed her away when she pulled a knife on him. He was determined to be the primary aggressor and was taken into custody. He is charged with aggravated assault/strangulation and is free on a $10,000 bond.

In 2018, Woods was charged with the assault of a former girlfriend after police documented laceration injuries of the female he wrestled to the ground and tossed her phone in a dumpster so she couldn’t call 911. DA Glenn Funk retired those charges, as long as he promised to not get in trouble again. A few months later, Woods was charged with dragging the same girlfriend across the floor by her hair in front of children, after he punched her in the face multiple times. Police also documented those injures, but DA Glenn Funk refused to move forward with the prosecution in July of this year when the girlfriend backed out of testifying, despite the already collected evidence.

Nashville Booster charged in 2020 Finish Line theft at Rivergate Mall — Kierra Hockett

26-year-old Kierra Edwina Hockett was booked into the Metro Nashville Jail this week on an outstanding warrant from October of 2020, charging her with retail theft. A warrant alleges she entered the Finish Line store inside Rivergate Mall on October 29th, 2020, grabbed $565 worth of Nike pants and jackets, then fled the store. Later that day, the store received a phone call stating that the female’s name who just boosted clothes from them was Kierra Hockett. Police compared the security video to photos of Hockett and confined her identity. They were then able to locate Kierra’s Facebook account, from which she had posted the items for sale on the Marketplace. Hockett is free on pre-trial release.

27-year-old Shonda Reid was booked into the Metro Nashville Jail Tuesday, charged with the domestic assault of her husband after she punched him in the face. Her husband, Zeico Reid, reportedly came home after sleeping at a friend’s house overnight to pick up some clothing. When he entered the apartment, Shonda became irate and they argued. 32-year-old Travel Nurse Megan Elizabeth Thaggard is jailed in lieu of a $7,500 bond after police found her crashed into a crosswalk pole in downtown Nashville. Woman assaults brother with straight razor between eyes, $45K bond — Dominique H Thomas

31-year-old Dominique Thomas is charged with the aggravated assault of her brother, Marcus Price, after she attacked him with a purse in her left hand and a straight-edge razor in her right hand, as he was on the couch. The victim suffered a severe slice wound directly between his eyes. As he called the police she fled the scene. Police and medics responded, and a felony warrant was issued for her arrest. The argument reportedly was over her choice to use drugs rather than drive their mother to the store.

Two days later as officers were attempting to serve the felony warrant on Thomas, they blocked her vehicle in and activated their blue lights as she fled toward her apartment with officers in a foot chase. Officers took her into custody, and found her with a glass pipe with narcotic residue in her pocket. She remains jailed in lieu of a $45,000 bond, charged with felony aggravated assault, drug paraphernalia, evading arrest, and resisting arrest.

Another tourist too drunk for Broadway in downtown Nashville — Holly Frye #VisitMusicCity

42-year-old Holly Frye was doing what all tourists do in downtown Nashville and was extremely intoxicated according to officers working the Entertainment District Initiative last weekend. Bystanders flagged down police after she had fallen and was stumbling around, unable to maintain her composure. Officer gave her opportunities to call a friend, order a rideshare, and even dispatched medics to the scene to offer her a trip to the hospital to get checked out, all in an effort to avoid an arrest. She declined all of the choices presented to her and stated she just wanted to go home, however, that was not one of the available options, as she had no way to safely get there. Officers transported her to the Metro Nashville Jail, where she was charged with public intoxication.

Woman goes crazy when man attempts to end relationship: gun, taser, baseball bat, stalking — Mary Louise Williams

22-year-old Mary Louise Williams reportedly went and got her boyfriend’s handgun and threatened to shoot him with it when he told her he wanted to end the relationship on December 12th. After a struggle over the gun, her boyfriend, DayLaquan Kelly, was able to take it from Mary and place it in his pocket. Mary then produced a taser and used it on the victim several times all across his body, resulting in swelling and marks.

That same day at 11 a.m., the victim was sitting in his living room when Mary’s voice suddenly began to broadcast from his home security camera, saying she could see him and knew he had company over there. He immediately unplugged the power to the camera. 90 minutes later, the victim went outside to walk his two dogs and found Mary carrying a baseball bat while walking away from his car, which now had three broken windows, a broken tail light, and 4 flat tires that had been clearly stabbed with a knife, according to officers.

She then attempted to beat him with the metal baseball bat as he confronted her. Mary Louise Williams is charged with stalking, two counts of felony aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, and felony vandalism. She is jailed in lieu of a $27,500 bond.

Man assaults East Nashville neighbor with shovel and dirt — Jackie Cook, 68, arrested.

68-year-old Jackie Cook was booked into the Metro Nashville Jail on two outstanding warrants for events that occurred in March. Cook was in a dispute with his neighbor, William “Bill” Crump. Their properties share rear alley access between the two. Crump was reportedly upset that Cook was shoveling dirt onto the alleyway, which Crump alleges is part of his property, and property maps appear to confirm. Cook realized their interaction was being recorded and became upset, using his shovel to knock a cell phone out of Crump’s hand. Cook then drew his shovel back as if he were about to strike Crump, and advanced toward him. Video shows this and an additional attempt to strike Crump with the shovel.

Two weeks later, Cook was again shoveling dirt onto the alleyway, and as Crump attempted to remove the dirt, Cook shoveled two scoops of dirt onto Crump, which was also captured on video. Cook is charged with felony aggravated assault with a deadly weapon for the first incident, and simple assault for the second. He is free on a $6,000 bond.
